During the planning and design stages of this renovation, APMA communicated closely with key stakeholders to ensure the project scope aligned with faculty and student needs. When construction began, a tight timetable was followed and the work was phased to ensure minimal disruption to building users, who needed ongoing access to carry out their work and research. The result is a reinvigorated building more capable of assisting PKI in its dual mission of increasing enrollment and augmenting the University of Nebraska’s reputation as a top educator in cutting-edge information sciences and engineering studies.

The partial renovation of the Peter Kiewit Institute involved the reconfiguration of existing classrooms and laboratories, and the addition of spaces for research, study and meetings. A café and dedicated lounge areas were included to allow faculty and staff the opportunity to interact in informal settings that might translate into an enhanced culture of collaboration and innovation.
