OneWorld Wayfinding

Wayfinding + Wellness

With a mission of providing equitable health care for all members of the community, OneWorld recognized the opportunity to improve a patient’s experience with wayfinding signage. All buildings, even those with small footprints, can present navigation challenges for visitors who are unfamiliar with a health care environment. The signage program designed by APMA increases awareness of staircases for paths of travel and provides more prominent identification of destinations within a complex, historic architectural layout.

Dual Language Copy

The need for a system featuring two languages led to a solution that assigned a unique color for each language. This design approach aids users in recognizing content and gives each language equal visibility.

Wayfinding Planning

Design services began with an overall evaluation of the campus and a focused study on a patient’s typical path of travel to identify opportunities for improving communication and navigation. The signage program adds identification at the entrance of three buildings, new room signage for ADA compliance, and directional signage that serves a dual-language population.

The wayfinding signage creates distinct messaging that stands out from the environment and simplifies navigation. Room signage was updated for ADA compliance and a design that merges into the architecture and finishes of the corridors.
